Saturday Night Live?
As if Ashlee Simpson's career didn't look prefabricated enough, from the MTV series, to the dyed hair, to the rocker girl pose she's adopted, now the poor girl has commited the ultimate singing sin; getting caught lip syncing on stage. From the first time the 20-year-old took the stage on Saturday night's new episode there were clearly problems getting in sync. When she took the stage to sing her single "Pieces of Me" she started singing live, but then clearly cut to a pre-recorded track. Okay that was embarassing, but she could recover. However, when Ashlee took the stage 39 minutes later the same pre-recorded track of "Pieces of Me" started again and her vocals started while her mic dangled down. Either Ashlee was singing from her crotch, or something fishy was going on. The band started playing live along with the track while Ashlee awkwardly danced and then fled the stage.

At the end of the show Ashlee apologized, but laid the blame on her band, claiming they started playing the wrong song. Uh, okay. Today her father/manager Joe Simpson told Ryan Seacrest that poor Ashlee was suffering from acid reflux and that he insisted she sing to a track. "Just like any artist in America, she has a backing track that she pushes so you don't have to hear her croak through a song on national television," Joe said. He also laid the blame on the band, ignoring the fact that maybe his daughter should have been singing. He said the drummer pressed the wrong button. Y'know it's sad when Jessica Simpson is the talented one in the family.
